Fall mantel that transitions to Halloween and Thanksgiving

Today I am sharing some ideas for a simple fall mantel that easily transitions to Halloween and then to Thanksgiving. When I am decorating for fall, I keep three transitions in mind. One look for September, a few changes in October for Halloween and then another change in November for Thanksgiving. In my family room, my fireplace mantel is a focal point for seasonal décor. It sets the vibe for the season or the holiday. So I do put thought into my mantel décor. With this article,  I am going to share with you three different looks with just a […]

Soft Neutral Fall Decor for the Kitchen

It has been forever since I last did a blog post. I missed the whole spring and summer season. I had been working very long days at work and weekends were always busy or I was too tired to get at the computer. But here we are. Another fall season. I am definitely a summer and warm weather girl, but I do have to say I love fall. I just don’t love what comes after fall. WINTER. But today was  hot and humid and it didn’t feel like fall at all even though it is starting to look that way. […]

HomeGoods Happy

I’m not going to lie.  HomeGoods is  my happy place! It is one of my favorite places for home decor. It was a happy, happy day when HomeGoods opened a store near by in the past year.  Now I can get my weekly fix. And I NEED a weekly fix.  I still love TJ Maxx and Marshalls for home decor and I haven’t given those up, but HomeGoods is just one big happy roam zone. You never know what you are going to find there. Each week brings something new. Admittedly, I rarely walk out the door without a purchase, […]

Simple and Cozy Decor to get you through the Winter

If you are anything like me, taking down Christmas decorations is always a little bit depressing. For some reason, the house always looks so bare and blah.  I just want to redo the whole house after every Christmas and get all new decor, but that is not possible. So I do my best to use what Christmas décor I can that looks “wintery” so it still feels cozy and not boring. Editing your Christmas décor for the things that will work for winter can be a little tricky. I think eliminating anything with red is a first step. Then look […]

My Christmas Home Tour

Nothing like waiting until the last minute to post my Christmas Home Tour. Now I understand why home decor bloggers decorate early for the holidays. It’s because there is no time to blog once you near the holiday- especially Christmas! So here I sit, trying to get this post done when I have a hundred other things to do. Every year, I tell myself I’m not going to go too crazy buying new Christmas decor. “Use what you have” I tell myself. But then I see such cute stuff or I get inspired by seeing someone else’s decor and I end up […]

White Pumpkins and Hydrangea for a Fall Master Bedroom

I don’t know about you, but I spend more time in my bedroom than any other room in my home. I get ready for work there, sit on my bed and do work on my laptop and lay in bed and watch television. I do my yoga there. So since I spend so much time there, I always have some seasonal and holiday décor in the master bedroom like I do the rest of the house.  Keeping the master bedroom clean and uncluttered is important to keeping the room calm and soothing, so I continued with my neutral fall décor […]

Fall Simplicity in my Family Room

Gosh, if I don’t get some blogging done on my fall decorating, fall is going to be over before I know it. So I am sitting out on my deck on this nice fall day and getting to work. Today I am sharing some simple and sophisticated fall inspiration for your family room.  If you read my last post, doing traditional fall colors when you have light blue walls and carpet can be tricky. It can be done, but it is hard to make it all work. Blue and orange are contrasting colors and they can work together, but when […]

My Neutral Fall Kitchen

Gosh, I am really struggling to find time to write blog posts these days. I don’t want fall to be over without posting about my fall decor. So I am sitting myself down today and will try to knock out some posts.  I am sharing my pretty, neutral fall decor in my cottage style kitchen. I went with off-whites and muted colors this year and I find I like how it looks with my blue, tan and off-white decor. If you visited before, you know that my kitchen is open to my family room, so I must have a congruent […]

Front-of-House Face Lift

Have you ever made  a change around your home and then wonder why you didn’t do it sooner? A re-do of the front of our house was one of those times.  We’ve been in this home for 11 years and the trees and shrubs were getting too over grown. The shutters needed painted. I wanted to change the color of the front door and get new light fixtures. Well, this is the year we made those changes. This is what our colonial style home looked like before the re-do. The previous owners did a great job of landscaping the entire […]
